 
Welcome to JDCC's Photo Gallery of PTK's trip to the Alabama PTK Regional Convention - 2008.
The Jefferson Davis Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa attended the Alabama Regional Convention in Birmingham, AL this past weekend. In addition to being designated a "Five Star" chapter, PTK's highest designation for an active chapter, the Alpha Eta Lambda chapter was singled out for chapter and individual honors. PTK has over 30 Alabama chapters with eighteen in attendance at this convention.
The chapter received a Pinnacle Award for increasing Phi Theta Kappa Membership by 10% over the previous year.
JDCC's Symantha Murphy was recognized as Alabama Region's Most Distinguished Chapter Member. The Distinguished Members are selected based on a student's embodiment of the Hallmarks of the Society, emphasizing participation in Society programs.
Andrea King, Vice President of Leadership was recognized as Alabama Region's Most Distinguished Chapter Officer. Distinguished Chapter Officers are selected based on the recipients' demonstration of leadership, involvement in chapter programs, friendship with fellow scholars, and enthusiasm for the Society's Hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership and Service.
Kristin Larrimore, President was recognized as Alabama Region's Most Distinguished Chapter President. Distinguished Chapter Presidents are selected based on the recipients' demonstration of leadership, involvement in chapter programs, friendship with fellow scholars, and enthusiasm for the Society's Hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership and Service.
Our advisor, Ms. Redmon, received the Horizon Award and the Paragon Award. Award winning advisors are new and veteran advisors who make significant contributions to the growth of the individual members, serve as the chapter's advocate on campus, and encourage the chapter to be involved on the local, regional and/or international level of the organization. The Paragon Award is awarded to only one advisor in the state of Alabama with less than five years of service.
JDCC's Allen Jeffery Bell, II was elected as the Alabama Regional Vice President of Service. Allen will represent the college and the state of Alabama at state, local and International Phi Theta Kappa events. He will also develop a Regional Service Project for the state of Alabama. In addition to serving as the Alabama District three representative. This is indeed an Honor to have one of our students to hold this position! Congratulations Allen!!!!

The JDCC PTK chapter wants to thank all in our college community that assisted us in our achievement. We thank our college administrators that gave consistent and unwavering support. Your support allowed us to concentrate on the goals and projects that made us an award-winning chapter. We thank our faculty, not only for your advice and support but also for holding all chapter members to high scholastic standards. To do less would have diminished these achievements. We thank our support staff. Your diligent work on our behalf got us where we needed to be and made us a better chapter.
A special THANK YOU to Mr. Moore for giving up his weekend to accompany us to the conference. We appreciate you Mr. Moore!!!!!
The chapter will be sending representatives to the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention in Philadelphia, PA next month in hopes of bigger things!
